History

Western medicine came to China around 1800-1820, and since then it has been used at least 200 years. Before, the population were treated by Traditional Chinese Medicine. Now, there are many modalities but the most common are still TCM and Western Medicine. TCM has been established at 14th-11th centuries BCE and generally has more effect on chronic symptoms compare to acute symptoms.

It is still unknown who the first chiropractor who came to Shanghai was and when the chiropractic movement started.

Present day, through social media, there has been growing interest for chiropractic and for people who want to receive chiropractic.

Legalization Status

There is no license or regulation specifically for Chiropractic in China right now. However, chiropractic should be categorized by Physical rehabilitation which is regulated by Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine.
